Devious Journal Entry

Journal Entry: Wed Feb 29, 2012, 5:41 AM
This page does not get much traffic but people are still visiting. I wonder what page leads them to this one...

Would have more visitors if I update the gallery by adding in more work. You see, I still do art but they are for private eyes. Perhaps someday the rest can see them, until then you know how it goes with contracts. Even if I don't update here does not mean I'm not an artist. Like all of us trying to live out the dreams.

By The Way

Updates: 3/20/10

Updates

Hi all. It has been ages since I update. Let's just say life is fucking crazy. Other than that, I'm doing alright, getting back on my feet after it was cut off, after it was burned off. No not really, just an expression. I have a 9/5 job so I only get 2 days off to get on my projects. I'll be shooting during those days. Hope to continue the KABOOM COLLABORATION with new and previous artists. I got new fresh ideas waiting to mix with theirs.

Sad news. The Kaboom Ink has ended without reaching the end. Below you see the participated artists who got and did their part in the sketch book. Somehow it was lost between the last two previous artists. I don't know what happened between Lilyprincess and stigmatattoo said they do not have it. Actually, stigmatattoo had moved (thanks for notifying me prior to you moving so I can make the update, lol) and the book must have went to his previous address instead since Lilyprincess said she already shipped off the book. I'm not blaming anyone for the lost. The book was priceless it had all the amazing ink sketches. I'm a bit disapointed because the book was so close reaching the last artist on the waiting list, and I know AlbertFish had already waited a little more than a year. Such a shame. Perhaps I might start a new one I'm not sure yet...the project was epic.

Enough said. Expect to see new work monthly. Starting off with my deviantID. I'm going rouge, mysterious, and vicious. Been to hell and back you don't want to see my face unless you see it in person. It's more beautiful that way. ;) Yeah

Peace!

Tuan

Hi

Journal Entry: Mon Sep 8, 2008, 10:42 PM

Hi

Finished college. Moved to Atlanta few days ago. Got a studio downtown Atlanta. Hoping to survive as an artist/photographer...

The Kaboom Ink will be out this week, the order of the artists will also be up. My four pages of drawings took me back when I spend hours on one page, prior to my interest in photography, back when I had a lot of time on my hand.

Will upload the pages this week.

The project need one more traditional artist. If you are interested send me a message.

Featured in Advanced Photoshop

Featured in Advanced Photoshop Magazine Issue 46. Insight two page spread on the Kaboom Collaboration Project.

I can't wait till my last two classes are over. Been putting a lot of photography gig on hold until I am fully out of school, for full time freelancing. Reasons being that I get distracted by it which may affect my school performance, not risking that right now...I have many plans, and projects but they will have to wait until I am fully out and in the playground.

Hope you all enjoy the summer, it is quite hot out so stay cool. ;)

The Kaboom Ink is about to take off, waiting on few more artist participants and the book is on its way. I am also working on the first four pages to get things rolling. This is going to be some treat to see at the end.

Kaboom Collaboration - INK

Kaboom Collaboration

Expansion Pack

"Ink"

---

Introducing the new extension to the Kaboom Collaboration project under the expansion pack: "Ink".

Overall the project has been digital collaborations between the artists and myself. Digital graphics and illustrations with digital photography considered, there is a need to go back to the roots with traditional methods of expression. With this need, I have adopted the idea of passing a sketchbook from one artist to another to tell a story through different styles each artist possesses.

This addition to the expansion pack is called "Ink". Basically, the artist uses ink to sketch out his/her visuals to continue a story that the previous artist has started. This project is quite the opposite of the current digital methods: there is no undo - any marking made on the paper is permanent; and with the combined time for drawing and travel from one artist to the next, the process also takes longer.

With this in mind, this new addition to the project will give the audience an alternative sense of authenticity and add a more organic approach to creating.

---

I would like to invite traditional artists to this project. If you are interested in participating, here are the details:

Qualifications:

:bulletgreen: Open to the first 25 artists, to visual artists and writers.

:bulletgreen: Visual artists:  send me a link to your online portfolio that demonstrates your traditional use of pen drawings for consideration.

:bulletgreen: Writers: to allow me to get a sense of your style, send me a link to any writings you have published online.

:bulletgreen: This project is on a first come, first serve basis (after acceptance).

---

Theme:

:bulletgreen: The theme of this first sketchbook is childhood. With the guidelines you are allowed to express what childhood is to you, share your childhood memories, or a memory you wish you had, and so on.

---

Rules:

:bulletgreen: Each artist gets 4 pages to complete. No more, no less.

:bulletgreen: There is a 1 week duration for the completion of the 4 pages.

:bulletgreen: Only these tools are allowed: ink pen, whiteout, and markers. Please do not cut the pages, or use watercolor or spray paints.

:bulletgreen: Please do not touch the previous work done by other artists.

:bulletgreen: During the procession of the book  you are responsible for its safety and cleanliness.

:bulletgreen: Please do not rip or tear out pages. If you would like a copy of your finished sketch, you are allowed to scan it, but do not claim other artists work as your own.

:bulletgreen: You must sign and print your name somewhere small on each of the 4 pages. Don't let that be the focal point.

:bulletgreen: You are responsible for mailing the sketchbook to the next artist on the list.

:bulletgreen: The final artist will mail the book back to me to complete its journey.

:bulletgreen: All of the works done by you are copyrighted to you.

:bulletgreen: When signing up for this project you are allowing me, as the project director, to use the images to promote the Kaboom Collaboration project.

:bulletgreen: If the book ever sells, each artist will get 4% of the final price. Though 4% may seem little, it is a fair division to all 25 artists. Also, the book will not be cheap.

The sketchbook will one day be an exhibition. If you would like to be part of this project please send me a note for consideration.

I will start the first 4 pages. Will you be the next artist I send the book to?

Grand Opening

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 29, 2008, 8:42 PM

Grand opening of the "Print" section at by Tuan Photography & Arts. This took me a few weeks to complete. I like the style of it. Elegance, sophistication, classy, and mysterious at the same time. I need to look for more vintage frames, they compliment the style in my works very well. Take a look and give me your thoughts on your experience through the new section.

I also like to share with you PicLens which is an awesome image and video viewer, and extension to your web browser. This unique add-on helps browsing images and video with ease, though it only works on PicLens enabled sites, deviantART is one of them.

Now, I gotta prepare two portfolios (Photography & Arts) for a meeting in 5 days. Gotta make a 4 hours drive to Atlanta morning for discussion on the photo shoot clothing ad campaign...this is my first big one, I am quite excited! Other than that, I also need to look for a place in Atlanta, and continuing with my two Art History classes online...it is going to be a very exciting, and busy week ahead.

In the mean time, I am thinking of putting together a book on the 1st Chronicle, "The Great Bloom". But there are many images left that still needs poetry/prose to go along with them. I need to look for more writers to continue the "expansion pack" of the project...

I’d certainly be honored if you’d let me

or is glamour perhaps more of what you’re into?
Rest assured, dear guest, I prepare that too
The glamour platter’s seasoned with the finest rays of sunshine
and expertly sculpted with lights from premium vine

It offers an aroma most equal to its sight

And I loved it, every minute, hour, day. I love the yelling and shouting, the screams of the injured, the groans of the dieing, the sounds of steel clashing against steel, the quick draw of sword against sheath, the thunks of arrows finding their marks, embedded deep in the flesh of the enemy. I love the smells of smoke and sweat and blood and fire, love the battle cries and curses and grunts of man pitted against man, locked in the primeval struggle for power and survival and supremacy. Seedling
Just a tiny seed
Lost in a grove
Struggling to grow
In a malevolent earth
Watch it falter
Watch it cry
Watch it despair
Watch it try
Roots timidly grasp
Onto ‘friendly’ limbs
Only to be cut off
And restart the cycle
“You’re just a seed.”
“You’ll never become a tree.”
“You’re not good enough.”
“You’re going against our rules.”
Break the cycle
Loose the chain
Fight the oppressors
Find your place
Regain the thoughts, hopes
And dreams you once had
Before the horrors
Broke your mind and will.

Not a single soul can
Whisk them away.

Nor naive follower
Striving in the bright sun
Reaping all your dreams.

hear me
as time colludes with your decision

Phantasmical Mirror
Large hazel eyes resonate the youth of a lost childhood and the hardships of a grown woman who has had to experience far worse than one should ever have to endure. Arms depict with images and lengthy scars, the pain she has overcome to be who she is, today. A lost soul searching for love and acceptance in a calloused world. Nimble fingers paint upon the blank features of a dying hope; a heart which has forgotten its passion and fire for life. A wandering mind dreams of what could be and what adventures lay in waiting to be discovered. Desires are clouded by a past consumed with physical, verbal, and emotional turmoil, fading the drive to pursue what opportunities happen her way. Those eyes, once containing a raging ambition, blink away a stray tear from their cold and empty shells. Failure is ever looming and devouring the little girl weeping for her destiny.

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 21, 2008, 9:32 AM

Hello everyone.

I realized that I have a bad memory of things, often times I don't remember names, but I remember faces. Perhaps, I need to take a closer look at my psyche and see what is up. Nah...it is like a black box chained in a room with one thousand, thousand years old warlords from the Kaboom Dynasty guarding it...

Perhaps one day I'll reach for it.

On the other news, been busy designing a "SHOP" section for my website. Which will be replace by the current "PRINT" section. It is looking good so far, the exact style, and feel I want along with the web presentation layout. I am not a designer, but had took one course in Intro Graphic Design I have some clue. Foremost I think the design aspect is from working with amazing designers, and illustrators in the Kaboom Collaboration project. Hopefully I will finish the design layout and code it before the end of next week. Summer school is starting in few days, after that I will be getting a BFA in Photography. First and only person from my family to get a degree from college...

I haven't been shooting much, just been thinking about life, and my next move in it. There are few things I need to learn while in Savannah, GA gaining more wisdom from a place I may not visit again for a really, really long time. The world will be a playground. It IS!

Anyway, I have set up few photo shoots to kick off the farewell to this college town.

18 Rules For Living - by Dalai Lama

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 13, 2008, 5:10 PM

Thought I would share this with you guys.

18 Rules For Living - by Dalai Lama

   1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
   2. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
   3. Follow the three Rs:
         a. Respect for self
         b. Respect for others
         c. Responsibility for all your actions.
   4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
   5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
   6. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
   7. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
   8. Spend some time alone every day.
   9. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
  10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
  11. Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.
  12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
  13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don't bring up the past.
  14. Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.
  15. Be gentle with the earth.
  16. Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.
  17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
  18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

May I...
Greetings.
I will be your diligent maven for tonight
What, pray tell, would you like to try?
If it’s a dose of inspiration you have a taste for
I cook a spicy montage with great ardor
rich with animation, feeling, and color
You will inevitably request another
helping of such infectious splendor
Ah, have you sampled the high contrast yet?
‘Tis a fond specialty, I do guarantee
I’d certainly be honored if you’d let me
compose one of my best pieces for you
or is glamour perhaps more of what you’re into?
Rest assured, dear guest, I prepare that too
The glamour platter’s seasoned with the finest rays of sunshine
and expertly sculpted with lights from premium vine
They’re sweetly splashed with shadows and doused in diffusion
and envelop our guests in the most pleasant illusions
I also offer the drama and dynamism platter
seasoned with emotions and motions that matter
It offers an aroma most equal to its sight
I invite you to please take a cur

I’ve seen so many eyes in every size
slowly rest upon me
From everywhere they come and stare
and wonder how this could be
My heart so swells for I wish to tell
but cannot, unfortunately
Though most don’t know, what they behold
is the utmost of penalties
In such primordial time as mine
I plotted what others could not
to speak for Earth from deep within
and guard it peacefully
but the effect of dissent usually meant
a harrowing eternity
and because statutes were absolute
there was no exception with me
Esteem you should, for this aging wood
is where I’ve come to be
The colors may fade, but I will remain

You’ll come to find I’ll live in your mind
long after you turn to leave

VI.IV.MMVIII - VII:LIVam

Journal Entry: Wed Jun 4, 2008, 5:21 AM

Hey everyone. Summer has started on Monday, and I've been relaxing a little with the thought being in the real world in 3 months. I am also in the process of looking for a new place in Atlanta, which is where I will be in less than two months. This is going to be crazy because I can't visualize how life will be after this. Exciting.

I made a quick video to give a quick shout out to everyone! Hehe

It is rather strange to see 90% of the college kid vanished out of here once summer hit. Savannah, GA is now a ghost town...it will be challenging looking for new models to shoot, but I will keep my eyes open. I am inspired to try something new and also need more images for the Kaboom Collaboration.

Speaking about the project, the Kaboom Collaboration Expansion Pack is growing. This new division includes poetry and prose. Writers are invited to join the journey to give more content to the project. So, go read the written materials (the links are below) and give your thoughts to this new division.

Have a good one,
Tuan

Hey all, hope everyone is doing well.

I am about to finish my Spring quarter, and will be heading right into Summer quarter to finish my first degree, BFA in Photography. I don't think I will be getting a master degree, but will hope to create many masterpieces from here onward.

I haven't update much, but rest a sure that I am updating lots more in a week coming.

The Kaboom Collaboration project is getting some serious attention from few reputable magazines, I can't mention which yet, but soon enough. I will be continuing with this as always, but will be looking for new models to work with too here in Savannah, GA. In the mean time I am also looking to move to Atlanta and work with the music industry along with fashion. Already have many offers up there, so I will see how far I can push myself to create a whole new body of work for Atlanta with hip-hop/rap artists.

In other news I will be making videos and upload them on YouTube. I will be speaking in my videos so it is not all behind the scenes of photo shoots.

Subscribe to my channel if you have an account to get an alert when they are up.

What's going on with you my fans/friends/and fellow artists?

Red Friction Launched

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 29, 2008, 7:07 PM

In few months I will be release from the cage. Meaning graduation. The world will be a playground. I have started a 3rd life-long project to keep it busy, juggling different genre of photography expanding myself to achieve new adventure and experiences.

I have launched Red Friction today. It is about nightlife photography, where I venture out during the weekend nights hanging out, and shooting.

Bookmark the site, I will update it every weekend.

I am having a hard time making the gallery section in html, had to use CS2 web photo gallery automation for this...not as stylish, but will do for now. If anyone would like to help me with this please send me a message.

Brain Charged

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 21, 2008, 11:18 AM

Lately I've had a wonderful time with my friends whom I don't get to see very much, due to the busy artistic life, and the life being a college student. In 5 months I will be officially out in the real world, playing with real equipments, and working with talented artists, and models that I am able to met. It will be good change, a new transformation will be made to accommodate this phase in life. Nevertheless, I will always be a student.

Recently Artzmania featured few of the Kaboom Collaboration pieces in their issude X8 - "Eye Candy". The ezine is only viewable on a PC, because of the file extension being exe. Artzmania also features a lot of amazing artists, check them out too.

New photos will be out soon, I have a lot of shoots sets up mainly to experiment with something new, and to shoot for the Kaboom Collaboration.

I have started another side project directly from my photography. The new branch is called "Red Friction", which is all about nightlife photography style, more in your face type shooting of the party people in any city that I may happen to be in, out and about. Right now I am in Savannah, GA finishing up school and partying at the same time. Will be showing you the nightlife of Savannah, GA of what I am able to capture. "Red Friction" is going to be sexy, a bit naughty, and real. The different kind of photography that I have not touched, but does not mind exploring it. Stay tuned for the first release end of this weekend...

PS. Oh, if you were to search redfriction dot com is mine. It will be up soon. Hehe hehe

Expansion Pack of The Kaboom Collaboration

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 15, 2008, 11:43 PM

The last few weeks I've been inviting two different kinds of artistic mediums to join the Kaboom Collaborations. These talents are; literary, and music. Each of the mediums have a connection to one another.

Starting with photography being the layers on the canvas, the illustrations and graphics are mixed in to exaggerate the content, the short story and poetry extract the two, and the music puts it all back together as a whole on a different level. Of course all of these elements needs to be on the same plane to act as one, but in multiple sections, for one can increase their own dosage of emotions. The pack will allow them to.

It has begun. The start of the expansion allow a full ride if you will to the structure of a complex body of work, because it will take a lifetime to dissect every inch of the humanistic. After all, every good piece of art is just about that. However, instead of waiting for the end, we sealed it by dividing the works into Chronological order. The 1st being "The Great Bloom".

I would like to introduce few of the very first literary additions to the Kaboom Collaborations.

Fight the oppressors
Find your place
Regain the thoughts, hopes
And dreams you once had
Before the horrors
Broke your mind and will.
Once your dreams are
Imbedded in your heart
Not a single soul can
Whisk them away.
No longer a seedling
Nor naive follower
Striving in the bright sun
Reaping all your dreams.

Kaboom - X - Poetry
[The Silent Guard]
I’ve seen so many eyes in every size
slowly rest upon me
From everywhere they come and stare
and wonder how this could be
My heart so swells for I wish to tell
but cannot, unfortunately
Though most don’t know, what they behold
is the utmost of penalties
In such primordial time as mine
I plotted what others could not
to speak for Earth from deep within
and guard it peacefully
but the effect of dissent usually meant
a harrowing eternity
and because statutes were absolute
there was no exception with me
Esteem you should, for this aging wood
is where I’ve come to be
The colors may fade, but I will remain
gazing but placidly
You’ll come to find I’ll live in your mind
long after you turn to leave
The passive unblind, remember my kind,
the voice of the crying trees
I am Dryad.

Hear Me
hear me
as time colludes with your decision
past the point of swift revision
in the ambit of perdition
hear me
on this eventual occasion
when naught is left but dour persuasion
past the point of instigation
tell me
what will be your resolution
if my plea meets dissolution
and barren obscures this confusion
save us
from this dire transmutation
before the callous castigation
and any further tribulation
know that
if you heed not this premonition
then kismet in all its precision
will sanction our permanent partition
save us...

Kaboom - XIX - Short Story
The Queen’s Consort
By Talia-Vin
I stand amongst the carnage that surrounds me. I am silent as I gaze at the wreckage around me, blood dripping from my wounds, from my weapons, gushing from the corpses that litter the field and town and destroyed buildings and layer the streets. It has been a slaughter.
I love the fury of a burning inferno, the flash of metal flying through the air, the fleeting glimpse of an arrow, the

The stories are engaging, as well as the poems. Go get a cup of tea/coffee and enjoy them.

This art project itself is not an art group. Artists come to collaborate and they leave, few stayed for more. It is set up this way to have connection to life; we come and go and what we contribute to this world will have an effect thereafter, for both short and long term. The collection continue to grow, with the contribution of many great talents (hand selected) around the globe.

In a week I am releasing the 2nd Chronicle "The Dark Days" online, just the visuals. The writing and music comes soon after, especially the music because it needs production time.

We all thank you for the support. More to come...

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 7, 2008, 9:41 PM

Still alive and kicking it. This week there are a lot of writers joining the "Kaboom Collaboration" project. They will be injecting stories and poetry to the visuals, intensifying the arts, and the movement. I hope to release the 2nd Chronicle "The Dark Days" soon, still waiting on few visual artists to complete their pieces. In the mean time 3rd Chronicle is in progress.

If you are a writer and interested in collaborating with us in this project, please send me a note with your interest. I'll provide details. This project is going to be huge, in term of its expansion, and reach.

Recently, I have had an idea for taking a regular text comments and turn it into video/voice recording. Turns out that there are a lot of people who are interested in participating. More on its way. For now, view the two that are up.

I love art, and I love working with others who are into creating art. The Kaboom Collaboration has given me the chance to expand myself, as well as working with many amazing artists all over the world. This is my life-long project started in the Spring of 2007, so it has already been a year. Within a year I have met and got the honor to work with many talented artists on deviantART.

I did not have a clear path to where this project is going, simply I let it grew on its own. After a year working with many artists to produce a body of work, I started to wonder about where it is going. It makes sense to me now to release them or group them in chronicles to better shape this project as it grew. Focusing on the emotions of what we will eventually face throughout our life time. Taking the common feelings and push it further, expanding it for better understanding, and interpretation through visual arts. Right now, I am collaborating with digital artists but will eventually include some traditional collaborations.

It has been more than just demonstrating our talents into one canvas. It is demonstrating our understanding to the emotions we go through, capturing it onto the canvas. Internalize for realizations to find inspiration in life. The art works are packed with eye candy visuals, but they also have content of interesting back story (which will release soon) to give that extra kick. For now, the 1st Chronicle, "The Great Bloom" has completed, and I am in the process of completing the 2nd Chronicle "The Dark Days" which will be release in few weeks.

As of now, I introduce you the 1st Chronicle to The Kaboom Collaboration.
